On Wednesday (Day 7) I day-hiked from my Panther Gorge camp to this heavily overcast summit of Haystack in about 2 hours. The climb to Haystack from Panther Gorge is very steep; at one point I slipped, ascending a rock slab, and rolled to my left to grab some scrub balsams.
