My great mentor Chuck Garrigus, W3NRU, introduced me to Howard Manning, W3MI, who had built this beautiful transmitter in 1948. I bought it for $50. Its professional construction, with neatly laced wiring harnesses and stainless steel meter and switch labels, was fully the equal of that of the famous Collins KW-1 (I examined one a few years ago), which dates from the same period.
