At 2:15 I'm descending from the pass toward the bothy, 3 km ahead and on the other (west) side of the river. I'd just turned onto its path,at 3:25, when I saw my first Scotland snake: a healthy looking black adder! It quickly disappeared into the heather, and I reached the bothy at 3:40 PM.
