Approaching the Shadow channel Monday August 24 I left my gargoyles at 9:40 AM and reached my turnback point, here near the entrance to the twisty channel to Shadow Dam, at 10:40. After a 10-minute break I was back with my protectors at 11:44 AM. It had been a pleasant morning on The Flow! How often, decades ago, would I have considered canoeing on an Adirondack lake a wonder that I was likely never to enjoy?
