At 1:30 PM I'm approaching the notorious "Grosse Graben combe," where "signs warn trekkers to cross the danger areas quickly" (Reynolds, p. 204). I was caught in a rockslide there at 1:40 PM, hit by two flat, brown boulders I remember as about 3'x3'x1'. By great fortune I suffered only glancing blows: one to the right ankle, the other to the left calf. The calf developed a spectacular bruise a few days later.
