At 1:00 PM I had veered west, not believing the trail stuck to that sharp rocky ridge and following some patches of sandy dirt that often seemed to be parts of trails. But when I reached this point I decided I'd lost my way, that I'd cancel the Cairn Toul idea, and hoped I could find my way back.
