By noon of July 3, my 5th day out, I'd walked to Gasenried, guided out of Grachen by a charming young woman who waited while I returned my hotel key. This photo shows St. Niklaus, my day's goal, from Gasenried. By the Reynolds guidebook, I should have been doing this stage on my 3rd day.
