Day 4 (July 7, 2010): Bell 2 Lodge BC to Purden Lake Provincial Park BC (Site 36), 496 miles. Noon.

The southern end of the "Great Northern Circle Loop," where the Cassiar's southern terminus meets the Yellowhead (Rt. 16) at Kitwanga, was 157 miles south of Bell 2. It took about 20 miles to kill the last of the Bell 2 mosquitoes. The beautiful day was muted by my sympathy for the young couple with car trouble, stuck at Bell 2 waiting for the tow-truck to return with their car. The Yellowhead east passed through flat farmland, like rural upstate New York, and Vanderhoof, "the geographic center of British Columbia." After gas at Prince George, I headed for Purden Lake, 38 miles east.
